$220,000 fine for downlaoding music illegally was overturned. Take that RIAA!

The hugely disproportionate fine in the Jammie Thomas vs. the RIAA has been over turned by U.S. District Judge Michael Davis of Duluth, Minnesota. We thought that it was odd in the first place that the RIAA in the original trial was not required to prove that Jammie Thomas had the file sharing software installed or even owned the account from which the alleged downloading occurred. Judge Michael Davis overturned the previous ruling saying that just having a file available for download did not constitute copyright infringement. He said that they would have to prove that the file had actually been downloaded. Yeah Jammie. Way to fight back against the RIAA.
