That's right not even two weeks out and myspace music has already streamed over one billion songs over the Internet. To put that in perspective it took Apple 3 years to reach that number of songs downloaded through iTunes. To be fair to Apple it should be taken into consideration that myspace music does not charge to stream music. iTunes downloads cost 99 cents each. The interesting thing I beleive is the impact that myspace music will have on the recording industry. The RIAA has concentrated so much on persecuting "illegal downloaders" that they have ignored real solutions to the problem. Myspace music offers a viable alternative to buying music from the traditional outlets. The entire media sphere is moving towards this type of business model. Basically have advertisers pay for your media. Just look at how well Hulu.com is doing. I really think that this is the direction that media is heading.
